Samen kunnen we meer - Juntos Podemos Más

In Latin America and anywhere in the world, a small percentage of the population has great wealth while the majority suffers serious necessities. This minority has seized the political power, the economic forces and the technology. This break-down of national independence, reaches its maximum expression in the Free Trade Agreement. By control of the media of communication, the financial upper-class also dominates the ideology.

We seriously believe in the possibility of creating a large coalition of political and social forces opposing the present-day conditions of inequality and social injustice. Responsibility and lucidity are required to disarticulate, bit by bit, the tyranny of arms and money. We have faith in common action to bring back political power to the people. Latin America and other parts of the world demonstrate an increasing capacity of organization. With various sectors we have created a common base for reflection and action, thus contributing to a social movement striving for a political and social transformation towards real democracy.

The problem of Chile is not its economy, but the bad distribution of the wealth, the abuse of the labour force, the lack of regulation and state control on the economic elites and the multinationals, and a labour legislation opposed to the interests of the workers. The badly needed change of development strategy can be realized by the cooperation of powerful social organizations and a State that regulates and controls the foreign investments and the monopolists, thus limiting their negative effects on the small and medium producers and the consumers. Such a State has to play an enterprising roll in the reindustrialization of the country, lifting the unjust condition of monopolization of production and export of raw materials. It also has to strengthen integration and cooperation between hecountries of Latin America.

Points of our program for the presidential and parliamentary elections in Chile 2005

• A national project of economic and social development
• A project to the service of the majorities
• To democratize Chile
